TOP CLASSIC FILMS LIST:

1. *Citizen Kane (1941)

Not surprisingly voted the "greatest movie of all time," if not everybody's personal favorite. Buy Citizen Kane dvd here.

2. *Casablanca (1942)

One of the most perfect movies ever made, a wonderful cast and dozens of memorable lines. Could have been #1 in alot of lists.
Buy Casablanca on DVD here!

3. *The Godfather (1972)

A undeniable master classic, and an American saga, to boot. Like Star Wars, probably received more votes because it was a three-parter. Buy Godfather Trilogy DVD here!

4. *Gone With The Wind (1939)

The re-release will be absolutely massive; the film has legions of fans who are amazed that it wasn't chosen the top dog.. Buy Gone with the Wind on DVD here!

5. *Lawrence Of Arabia (1962)

Undeniably a great film, but does the American financing alone make it an American film? Ranked 24th in the IMDb poll so slightly contreversial. Buy Lawrence of Arabia on DVD here!

6. *The Wizard Of Oz (1939)

An institution and an all time classic musical. Could also have been #1. Buy The Wizard of Oz on DVD here!

7. *The Graduate (1967)

A classic film that articulated the worries of the 60s and launched the career of one of the greatest actors of his time. Buy The Graduate on DVD here.

8. *Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

One of the classic Indiana Jones movies from the 4 now... Buy your copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark on DVD here.

9. Schindler's List (1993)

A brilliant film, but perhaps too recent to be considered a "classic" just yet. Buy Schindler's List on DVD here.

10. Singin' In The Rain (1952)

A brilliant musical, but the greatest musical of all time? (considering that it's the highest-ranked musical, not counting Wizard)? Where are all the great MGM musicals? Buy Singing in the Rain on DVD here.

11. *It's A Wonderful Life (1946)

The better of the American films just barely missed the top ten. The only one of my "guaranteed top ten" films that didn't quite make it. (The others were Casablanca, Citizen Kane, GWTW, and Wizard of Oz.) Buy It's A Wonderful Life on DVD here.

12. Rear Window (1950)

An ironic choice, considering the nature of this list, especially with such a high ranking. Buy your copy of Rear Window on DVD here.

13. *Taxi Driver (1957)

One of the greatest nut cases movies and one of Sir Alec's greatest performances. Buy Taxi Driver on DVD here.
Buy this movie!

14. *The Good the Bad and the Ugly (1959)

Great western with Clint Eastwood, fantastic cast, but might there not have been other westerns that deserved this spot in the top twenty? Buy The Good the Bad and the Ugly on DVD here.

15. *The Seven Samurai(1977)

This always appears at or near the top of every "favorite movies" list I've ever seen, including a couple of polls I conducted myself. Fifteenth seems a bit low. Buy The Seven Samurai on DVD here.

16. The Shawshank Redemption(1950)

This excellent all time classic is top ten on many other lists. Buy your copy of The Shawshank Redemption on DVD here.

17. *To Kill a Mockingbird(1951)

Katharine Hepburn's only appearance in the top twenty. Bogart's second, and arguably one of his greatest roles. Buy To Kill a Mockingbird on DVD here.

18. *Psycho (1960)

Hitchcock probably deserved a higher placement, but which film would you choose? Almost exactly the same ranking as the IMDb poll, but the other Hitchcock films did somewhat better on that list. You may like this Alfred Hitchcock DVD box set aswell.
Buy Psycho on DVD here.

19. *Chinatown (1974)

Maybe would have ranked abit higher if it had had a more popular director, but Jack Nicholson is currently the most revered actor working, and Huston is no slouch, either. But Chinatown on DVD here.

20. *One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975)

Jack Nicholson scores two in a row, both in the top twenty, which makes up for his not getting a higher spot. Despite criticism from fans of the book and the play, it was still a very powerful film, especially for the times. Ranked 7th in the IMDb poll.
Buy One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest on DVD here.

21. Twelve Angry Men (1986)

A common top 20 all time classic movie. Buy your copy of Twelve Angry Men on DVD here.

22. Vertigo (1978)

Another all time classic... Buy you copy of Vertigo on DVD here.
